TRAINING PROGRAM
Binners’ Project is beginning work on a new, innovative training program to build the capacity of binners on staff. This program will consist of half in-session training and half on-the-job training.

As our social enterprise programs have grown, clients have shown increasing demand for high-quality work from binners. However, many of the binner participants in our programs, for reasons of acute economic, social, and health-based marginalization, are not always able to keep up with mainstream expectations around professionalism and evolving recycling standards. The absence of these skills can result in persistent challenges on-site and reduced quality of service.

The training program will work on building binners’ capacity in the following areas:

Our curriculum focuses on waste sorting training, data collection, events, and key interpersonal skills that enhance binners’ professional development. In 2023, we have scheduled 13 training sessions available for binners. |
